The wheel of the year card represents a cycle of life and change, and the upswing of good luck. The death of one leads to the birth of another. For pagans this is the death of the holly king who passes his knowledge off to the newborn horned god. The daylight fades, then returns. The plants which have died for the winter, return in the spring. And so on. The wheel of the year tarot spread is about learning what is going to change in the coming year. For each month there is a Major Influence and Major Event. The following is the reading I did for the pagan new year, which starts November 1st, even though I considered the first month of reading to be January.
January
Major Influence: Ace of Pentacles. This card represents December, January and February. I will find a new job. This already came true! I am now a remote life insurance agent. If you read my earlier posts, you know I was looking for remote work, and my cards were screaming for me to get a new job. I will find material wealth, and/or spiritual wellbeing with the new year. Yay!
Major Event: The Horned God. The new year is going to bring a big event! I may have an opportunity to take on a new responsibility, or to build a big step toward happiness. Or, I might get pregnant. Well guess what…I’m 7 weeks pregnant. So far so good for predictions!
February
This may be not a good month. It will have a big event.
Major Influence: Six of Wands in reverse. I might become vain or overestimate my abilities in my new job. My guess is I will not make as much money as I am expecting.
Major Event: The Holly King in reverse. I may make an impulsive decision which will seem imprudent. I am hoping this doesn’t mean I will quit my new job recklessly.
March
Better month, another big event. Lots of big events for the new year!
Major Influence: Four of Pentacles. I might budget my money wisely, and become financially secure. Hopefully this is true since I am planning to work on finances with my spouse with the coming baby! However, I may begin to struggle to socialize. This might become true with a remote job.
Major Event: The Oak King. I might have the opportunity for introspection and I may find inner peace. This would certainly be true with a remote job. I might also be pregnant…yup!
April
Big influence this month. Circles of megaliths(?) pictured in both tarot cards.
Major Influence: The High Priestess. My psychic powers may begin to become clear to me. I will be able to use this insight.
Major Event: Three of Pentacles. I might receive recognition or a promotion/pay raise at work. I may be pregnant. So many pregnancy cards, that is good, it might mean no miscarriage.
May
The month to focus on for me, the month of change. This month will be the start of a baby bump for me, certainly lots of change with that!
Major Influence: Lord of Shadows. I may change from darkness to light. I might begin to accept positivity and optimism. Big strides may be made toward creating a happy life.
Major Event: Eight of Wands. I might make sudden gains at work and/or receive news from afar either of which will be optimistic. I need to remember not to be too hasty, and keep long term goals in mind.
June
Big month for me.
Major Influence: The Greenman in reverse. I may experience unfocused energy, baby brain! It might cause me to be inactive, or distracted at work.
Major Event: Sidhe. I may have a great vision. Through patience and trusting my people skills, I can make this vision a reality.
July
Major Influence: Two of Athames in reverse. I might discover false friends, or my efforts may be frustrated. I need to be careful not to turn to malice.
Major Event: King of Wands. I may have an opportunity to become a wise mentor or instructor. Or I might gain spiritual enlightenment or fulfillment.
August
Major Influence: Ace of Chalices in reverse. I will be very emotional this month. My baby will be born this month, of course I will!
Major Event: Page of Athames. I may have an opportunity to showcase my talents. I will have been working hard for this moment and this will be my chance to go for it! Hopefully this means showcasing my mommy talents.
September
Major Influence: Seven of Pentacles. Continue working hard is the motto for this month. Good things are going to come, and it is going to take a lot of hard work to get there. Sounds like parenting to me. I need to avoid taking any shortcuts!
Major Event: Five of Chalices in reverse. I might overcome my difficulties, and/or experience a change in lifestyle with new alliances. I may experience a hopeful outlook.
October
Bad month with big influences.
Major Influence: The Witch in reverse. I might feel unconfident and hesitant. I may struggle with spirituality and intuition.
Major Event: Page of Chalices in reverse: I may be distracted by a superficial attraction to something.
November
Wands: Fire, work, career, energy, creativity month.
Major Influence: Page of Wands in reverse. I may be impatient and might be easily influenced even by false friends.
Major Event: Seven of Wands. My inventiveness may cause me to overcome obstacles I might have been experiencing at work. I may have to defend a position of superiority. I will need to trust my instincts.
December
Another wands month. Fire, work, energy, career, creativity.
Major Influence: Two of Wands in reverse. My plans may become unfocused, or I might become dissatisfied with results from work or gains.
Major event: Knight of Wands. I may want once again to set out for a new career.
New Year Tarot Summary
A really good year for me! It sounds like I will give birth to a healthy baby. My life is going to change drastically in the new year. I am looking forward to it. Though it sounds like eventually I will be disappointed with my new job as well, and go for something new again! I like it, a different job every year. Gotta catch em all!
