If you are wondering what happens the previous weeks of pregnancy, check out my earlier post. I just started week 8 today, this post summarizes what happened for me week 7. Remember not every pregnant person’s experience is the same. So if you didn’t have these symptoms or had others, unless you are in extreme pain, there is no cause for worry.
How I Felt
Some of this was wrapped up in other things besides pregnancy. Remember that awesome remote job I got so I could be a work-from-home mom? Turns out, not so awesome. I did some research and a lot of people think they are a scam and/or a pyramid scheme. Yeah, yikes! So I got the fuck out. That means that I started this week training, and ended the week unemployed.
I felt overwhelmed this week. Initially because I had a ton of training to do, and then because I was back to hunting for a job. I don’t feel overwhelmed by the idea of having a child…yet. Those job related things also made me feel anxious and stressed. Then when I quit I started to feel depressed. But I also felt supported and in love with my spouse who reminded me I am not a failure for obtaining a job I didn’t want, and that he would support me, and that we would get through it. I am starting to tear up writing this, which brings me to my next point.
The hormones! Holy shit you all. While my stress and anxiety might have been due to the aforementioned, non-pregnancy related stuffs, I have had some wild moments that are certainly because of my strawberry sized embryo. I have been crying for absolutely no fucking reason. Get this, I looked up pregnancy planners because my aunt got me this great wedding planner with stickers and stuff, and I wanted to see if there was one for being pregnant. Yup! THE VIDEO AD MADE ME CRY. It was literally just like flipping through the pages and my hormonal ass was like yup, *sob* that’s the one I want. I could barely see the buy now button. Oof.
Symptoms
My titties still hurt, they seem to have grown just a little bit. I was advised to go ahead and order a nursing bra because it is a waste of money to purchase bigger bras you may never use again. I have also still had some nausea, but I can get through it without a ginger beer now. That is either because my nausea has subsided, or because I am used to it now. I still get it in the mornings, but now it goes away shortly after I eat breakfast. My stomach is also still very bloated. I fixed the scale (I keep saying this but I just put batteries in it y’all), so I know I am slightly overweight, but not that overweight. Let’s just say I have weighed this much before, but my pants have not been this tight.
I feel thirsty all the time, and I have to pee all the time. I had at least 12 cups of water yesterday, and my pee was still yellow. Right now I have to pee about every hour. I am also exhausted, probably because going pee all the time includes a regular trip to the bathroom at 3:00 am. Why 3? Beats me man! It takes longer for me to get going. Then I have a killer 3 hour window between 10 am and 1 pm, and then I am beat and I just push through the rest of the day until bedtime.
Speaking of bedtime, you want to know a ridiculous symptom of pregnancy? Vivid dreams. I have dreamt I was in the mafia, that we were touring a gay couple’s fabulous mansion, that we needed a mummy in a museum to pass a spell to alter time, and one where I did well in an interview and got a job. Included with this is an increased sex drive. I will leave that to your imagination, except you mum and dad…
What About Baby?
Last week baby was the size of a raspberry, this week they are the size of a strawberry. They are growing fast! In that time the amniotic sac and placenta have started to develop. The lungs have started to grow. The feet and hands are now visible with an ultrasound, that will be on Wednesday! Now their toes and fingers are just starting to form. Also their eyes are just starting to develop. I wonder what color they will be!
I have started to experience an appetite increase, and I had aversions for the first time. My spouse made this great meal with chicken, roasted potatoes, rice and veggies. My body out of nowhere turned its nose up at the last two with no warning. Then the next day I could not handle the smell of Birthday Cake Oreos, they smelled like sour milk to me. Tasted fine later though!
What symptoms did you experience the end of your second month? Were you lucky enough to skip nausea? Let us know in the comments!
